Dangerous goods courier, London and the South East
We run dedicated dangerous goods jobs from the North into London and the South East most weeks — one vehicle, one load, straight down, no hub. We carry Limited Quantity, Excepted Quantity and under-threshold consignments with the transport document and extinguisher the regulations require. We hold no ADR vocational certificates and no DGSA appointment, so a placarded load is not something we can legally take, and we say so at the enquiry.
What moves into London and across the South East
London and the South East are where a great deal of laboratory, pharmaceutical, diagnostic, electronics and film and events work sits, and all of them move packaged dangerous goods in small quantities. Reagents and samples between research sites, lithium cells for electronics and production, aerosols and solvent-based products for sets and installations, and a steady flow of Limited Quantity consignments through the airport and port corridors.
For a Northern operator the useful work here is the long dedicated run: something that has to leave a site in Yorkshire or Lancashire and be in a London lab, studio or warehouse without going near a consolidation hub. One vehicle, one driver, continuous custody and a single transport document is both the simplest compliance story and the fastest transit available.
How quickly we get there
Bradford to London is a four-hour drive, so a same-day delivery means an early collection. We would rather tell you that on the phone than promise an afternoon slot we cannot make.
Towns we collect from into London and across the South East: London, Dartford, Slough, Reading, Basingstoke, Milton Keynes, Luton, Crawley, Guildford, Chelmsford, Southampton, Portsmouth. If your site is not on that list it is almost certainly still covered — the list is the main ones, not the limit.
What we will carry into London and across the South East, and what we will not
We carry dangerous goods that fall under Limited Quantity, Excepted Quantity or the ADR 1.1.3.6 threshold today. For a placarded full-ADR load we will tell you so and help you find a carrier who holds the certificate, rather than take the job and work it out later.
Most carriers will not put that in writing until you have already booked. We would rather lose the enquiry at the first phone call than collect a load we are not certificated to move, because the consequence of getting that wrong lands on your consignment note as well as our licence.
What we need from you before collection
- The UN number and proper shipping name — this settles almost everything else.
- The class and packing group.
- The quantity per inner package and the total on the consignment, because that is what decides whether it stays under the threshold.
- Whether the outer packaging is marked and in date, and whether the goods are new stock or waste.
- The collection site and whether it needs a permit or induction, so the driver arrives able to get in.
Send those five things and we will tell you in writing which route the consignment travels under before anything is picked up. If it turns out to need placards and a certificated driver, we will say so and help you place it elsewhere.
Questions we get from shippers into London and across the South East
Can you do a same-day dangerous goods run from Yorkshire to London?
Yes, with an early collection — it is around four hours each way. Ring first thing and we will confirm a realistic delivery time before you commit.
Will you deliver into central London?
Yes, including the Congestion Charge and ULEZ zones; the charges are passed on at cost and shown on the quote rather than buried.
Can you collect in London and bring something back North?
Yes. A return leg on a dedicated vehicle is usually the cheapest way to move a consignment the other way, and it is still a dedicated run with nothing else on board.
Send us the UN number and we will tell you how it travels
One call settles it. The UN number, the packing group and the quantity per package, and you will have our answer in writing before a vehicle is sent.
