Dangerous goods courier, West Midlands
The West Midlands is around two hours from our Bradford base down the M1 or M6, which makes Birmingham and the Black Country a same-day job when it is booked in the morning. We carry Limited Quantity, Excepted Quantity and under-threshold consignments on a dedicated vehicle with the transport document and extinguisher the regulations require. Placarded full-ADR loads need a certificated driver and a DGSA and we hold neither, which we say at the enquiry rather than afterwards.
What moves across the West Midlands
The Black Country still does the work the name comes from. Metal finishing, electroplating, anodising, galvanising, heat treatment, forging and the fastener and automotive supply chain all consume corrosives, solvent degreasers, quench oils and surface-treatment chemistry, and they do it in hundreds of small units across Walsall, Dudley, Oldbury, Tipton and West Bromwich.
That produces exactly the consignment profile this service exists for: packaged, small, inside Limited Quantity volumes or under the 1.1.3.6 threshold, needed today because a line is down or a batch is waiting. Birmingham and Coventry add a research, laboratory and prototyping layer on top, moving reagents and battery samples in Excepted Quantity lots — again small, again urgent, again refused by anything that runs through a hub.
How quickly we get there
Bradford to Birmingham is roughly two hours. For a dedicated run we go direct with no hub stop, so the transit is the drive and nothing else.
Towns we collect from across the West Midlands: Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Walsall, Dudley, West Bromwich, Solihull, Smethwick, Tipton, Oldbury, Redditch, Telford. If your site is not on that list it is almost certainly still covered — the list is the main ones, not the limit.
What we will carry across the West Midlands, and what we will not
We carry dangerous goods that fall under Limited Quantity, Excepted Quantity or the ADR 1.1.3.6 threshold today. For a placarded full-ADR load we will tell you so and help you find a carrier who holds the certificate, rather than take the job and work it out later.
Most carriers will not put that in writing until you have already booked. We would rather lose the enquiry at the first phone call than collect a load we are not certificated to move, because the consequence of getting that wrong lands on your consignment note as well as our licence.
What we need from you before collection
- The UN number and proper shipping name — this settles almost everything else.
- The class and packing group.
- The quantity per inner package and the total on the consignment, because that is what decides whether it stays under the threshold.
- Whether the outer packaging is marked and in date, and whether the goods are new stock or waste.
- The collection site and whether it needs a permit or induction, so the driver arrives able to get in.
Send those five things and we will tell you in writing which route the consignment travels under before anything is picked up. If it turns out to need placards and a certificated driver, we will say so and help you place it elsewhere.
Questions we get from shippers across the West Midlands
Can you get plating chemistry across the Black Country the same day?
Within Limited Quantity volumes or under the threshold, yes. Dedicated van, direct run. Bulk drums or IBCs needing placards are not work we can legally take.
Do you carry lithium battery samples from Coventry or Birmingham?
Yes, where they meet the UN3480/UN3481 Section II conditions or are installed in equipment. Prototype, damaged or defective cells need a full-ADR carrier and we will say so.
Is it one vehicle all the way?
Yes. One vehicle, one driver, your load only, from collection to delivery, with live tracking and photo proof.
Send us the UN number and we will tell you how it travels
One call settles it. The UN number, the packing group and the quantity per package, and you will have our answer in writing before a vehicle is sent.
